Description

A delicious and flavorful grilled steak topped with a fresh Caprese salad.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, diced
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Season the flank steak with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, and honey.
  3. Place the steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  6. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
  7. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. While the steak is resting, combine the cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil in a bowl. Drizzle with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.
  9. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve topped with the Caprese mixture.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the Caprese mixture.
  • Substitute the flank steak with sirloin or ribeye for a different flavor and texture.
