Ingredients

  • 30 ounces frozen hash brown potatoes
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the frozen hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped onion (if using), black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and golden brown on top.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
