- 30 ounces frozen hash brown potatoes
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped onion (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the frozen hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, chopped onion (if using), black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the mixture.
- Substitute the cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom soup for a vegetarian option.
