- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese, and a layer of meat sauce.
- Repeat the layering process, ending with noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef and sausage with sautéed vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, and bell peppers.
- For extra flavor, add a layer of fresh spinach or kale between the noodles.
