For the Sauce
  • 1 can Tomato Sauce Canned sauce with added spices if in a hurry.
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder Optional for less spice.

  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt or vegan sour cream.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Entomatadas
  1. Begin by heating about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry each corn tortilla for 10–15 seconds until softened, then drain.
  2. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 2–3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Pour in tomato sauce and season with cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce in a baking dish.
  5. Dip each fried tortilla into the sauce, layer them in the dish with cheese and cilantro, and repeat.
  6. Top with cheese and bake for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
