A quick and delicious twist on classic chicken parmesan, this Lazy Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese combines tender chicken, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese between crispy sourdough bread.

- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread marinara sauce on one slice of sourdough bread.
- Layer the shredded chicken on top of the marinara sauce.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the chicken.
- Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Top with the second slice of sourdough bread.
- Melt butter in the skillet, then place the sandwich in the skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
- Substitute the chicken with turkey or a plant-based protein for a different flavor.
