- 1 cup breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 8 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (for serving)
- Butter or cooking spray (for greasing the pan)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin. Place a tablespoon of the cooked sausage at one end of each slice and roll it up tightly.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little butter or cooking spray to coat the pan.
- Dip each rolled-up bread in the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Place the rolled bread seam-side down in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove from the skillet and roll in granulated sugar to coat.
- Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
Notes
- For a sweeter twist, add a slice of banana or a sprinkle of chocolate chips inside the roll before rolling it up.
- Substitute the breakfast sausage with cooked bacon or turkey sausage for a different flavor profile.
