Description
A quick and easy recipe for a savory ground beef and cabbage stir-fry that is packed with flavor and nutrition.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
- Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For added heat, include a teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a splash of sriracha sauce.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra color and nutrition.
