Description

A delightful recipe for Savory Italian Herb and Cheese Bread, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, oregano, basil, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Stir in the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, olive oil, and eggs until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  6. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding chopped sun-dried tomatoes or olives to the batter for extra flavor.
  • You can also substitute the mozzarella with cheddar cheese for a different taste.
