- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake tin.
- Combine the pitted dates with boiling water in a medium bowl and soak for about 15 minutes, then mash into a smooth consistency.
- Cream together softened unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then blend in the mashed dates.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients alternating with milk.
