Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. Peel and mash 3 to 4 ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Melt unsalted butter and stir it into the mashed bananas. Add brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla; whisk until creamy.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Fold this dry mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in your choice of chopped walnuts or pecans, if using.
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  8. Optionally, prepare a glaze with melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a splash of milk. Drizzle over cooled brownies.
