Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  7. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese, and a layer of meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layering process, ending with noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  12. Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
