  • 2 tablespoons Toasted Sesame Oil For authentic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon White Pepper For seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste
For Cooking and Garnishing
  • 2 tablespoons Oil for Cooking Any neutral oil works well
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds For decoration
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Green Onion For garnish

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • spatula
  • skillet
  • Damp cloth
  • Cheesecloth

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in hot boiling water. Fold until it forms a shaggy dough. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
  2. While the dough is resting, press firm tofu in cheesecloth to remove moisture. Sauté chopped green beans for 3-4 minutes until tender. Mix with tofu, shredded carrot, chopped cilantro, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
  3. Once dough has rested, divide it into 10 pieces, rolling each into a ball. Flatten into circles. Place a tablespoon of filling in each circle, pleat edges to seal, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  4. Heat a skillet and add oil. Place buns and flatten slightly. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until golden. Flip, add hot water, cover, and steam for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Transfer buns to a plate, cool slightly, and serve warm with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
