For the Beef & Rice
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey/chicken
  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice
  • 2 cups Low-Sodium Beef Broth ensure gluten-free if needed
  • 1 medium Diced Onion
  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic the star ingredient
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning or swap with oregano, thyme, or basil
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese or Monterey Jack/mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 cup Whole Milk or cream for richness
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley for color
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Brown for 5–7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Incorporate uncooked rice, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  5. Bring to a gentle boil, then cover and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. In a small saucepan, melt remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir in whole milk, cheddar, and Parmesan until smooth.
  7. Pour cheese sauce over the rice mixture and stir. Cook uncovered for 2–3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with parsley before serving.
