Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box white cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix 3.4 oz
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup milk almond milk for lactose-free
  • cup sour cream can swap with Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract optional for nut allergies
  • 1 pinch salt
  • as needed food coloring green and purple
For the Cheesecake Filling
  • 2 cups heavy cream or coconut cream for dairy-free
  • 12 ounces cream cheese or Neufchâtel for lower fat
  • 1 ⅓ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla optional
For the Assembly
  • 40 Oreos divided
  • as needed sprinkles Halloween-themed

Method
 

Make the Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, pudding mix, egg whites, milk, sour cream, oil, vanilla, almond extract, and salt for 2 minutes. Divide and color with green and purple food coloring. Bake in prepared pans for 28-30 minutes. Cool and cut into cubes.
Make the Filling
  1. Whip heavy cream in a chilled bowl until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold whipped cream into the mixture and transfer to a piping bag.
Assemble the Trifles
  1. Layer green cake cubes in jars, add 16 chopped Oreos, then pipe half of the cheesecake filling. Repeat with purple cake, then 16 more Oreos.
Add the Final Touches
  1. Pipe remaining cheesecake filling and top with an Oreo and sprinkles.
Chill and Serve
  1. Refrigerate assembled trifles for at least 1 hour before serving.
