  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated, optional
  • 1 large Egg Beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

For the Coating

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet
  • Shallow Plate
  • Deep Pan

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by ensuring your mashed potatoes are smooth and lump-free. If using leftovers, reheat them slightly to make mixing easier.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the smooth mashed potatoes with shredded cheddar cheese, grated parmesan, and one beaten egg. Season generously with salt and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until the mixture is well combined.
  3. Use your hands or a cookie scoop to shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of golf balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Roll each potato ball in breadcrumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F for frying or preheat your oven to 400°F if baking. Fry puffs for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown or bake for about 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the crispy cheese puffs from oil or oven and let them cool slightly. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
