- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, rolled oats, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Pour in 1 cup of buttermilk, mixing gently until a wet dough starts to form. If too dry, add more buttermilk until sticky and cohesive.
- Transfer the dough onto the baking sheet and shape it into a round ball. Make a shallow 'X' cut on top.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Let it cool on a wire rack completely, then slice into pieces.
