Preheat your oven to 400°F.
In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated with the marinade. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor).
Place the marinated chicken thighs in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush half of the barbecue sauce over the chicken thighs.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Remove the chicken from the oven and brush the remaining barbecue sauce on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle with apple cider vinegar for added tanginess if desired.
