In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a seasoning paste.
Add the chicken thighs and drumsticks to the bowl, ensuring they are well-coated with the seasoning paste.
Place the seasoned chicken on the wire rack, skin side up. This allows the heat to circulate and helps the skin get crispy.
Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy.
During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with barbecue sauce, reserving some for serving.
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
