Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 15.25-ounce box vanilla cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, and lemon juice. Stir gently and set aside to macerate for about 10 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Layer the macerated strawberries over the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Sprinkle the dry vanilla cake mix evenly over the strawberries, ensuring complete coverage.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, making sure to cover as much of the mix as possible.
  8. Pour the water evenly over the top of the cake mix and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is set.
  10. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
