Preparation Steps
- Gently pat the silken firm tofu dry with paper towels and cut into 1.5-inch pieces.
- Whisk together flour and water in a shallow bowl until smooth, then mix in smoked paprika, garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper.
- Dip each tofu piece in the batter, coating well, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet to about 380°F (190°C).
- Gently slide coated tofu pieces into the hot oil, frying for 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side.
- Remove tofu from the oil with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.
